Creating real abundance in life

Living an abundant life is about love, connection, service and inner peace. None of these can be attained with financial wealth.

One of the great spiritual scams is how to create financial abundance in your life. Throughout the ages, spiritual “teachers” have promoted themselves and their ideas by claiming “the secret” to manifesting abundance, financial security and wealth. Of course, most of the followers who are sucked into the pitch buy the book, the movie, the meditation or teaching, only to find, to their disappointment, that their lives remain stuck.

In my studies of the Higher Realms, I have yet to find the magic bullet that can transform me into a fabulously wealthy person. And believe me, I have searched and tried everything.

What I have learned is deeper and more nuanced. First, I have learned that financial security, abundant bank accounts and wealth are really just symbols for freedom. If I were to ask you to write down all the good things that would happen to you and your life if you had millions of dollars, you would probably list all of the ways that you would find to liberate yourself from bills, employers, rent and car payments. But then what?

Second, I have learned that living a meaningful life is far more satisfying than having a big bank account. Assuming you came into instant wealth, how would you find meaning in your life? Financial freedom is nice, but we all have heard plenty of stories of people who won the lottery or sold their dot.com for millions but are still unsatisfied and unhappy.

We kid ourselves into thinking that we would become different with more money. The truth is that we would not. If you are essentially unhappy with your life right now, financial abundance will not make you happier or freer. Sure, you may not have to worry about paying bills, but your fundamental existence will not be changed.

Third, as I searched for the secret to manifesting abundance, I began to realize that my goal was not to become wealthy. It was to serve others in the broadest and deepest way I could. When I shifted my life from chasing the latest hot new idea to devoting myself to service, everything changed. And guess what? Abundance started to flow. I am not wealthy, but I live a joyous, happy, beautiful life. I worked on aligning my outer self, my higher self, body deva (spirit of the body), and my work to the purpose of service.

Living an abundant life is about love, connection, service and inner peace. None of these can be attained with financial wealth. I have found that if we pay attention to the important things, we create happiness and joy all around and inside us. When we live in love, connection, service and inner peace, money no longer really matters. And when financial abundance is no longer important, it seems to be there when we need it.

I know this is hard to accept, especially if you are struggling to make ends meet. We are conditioned by our culture to revere wealth, status and power. When we begin to value the inner vibrations more than the outer ones, our resources bloom. The key component is to look for support internally.
