Regenerative joint therapy optimizes joints

Regenerative joint therapy is an efficient therapy that stops this degenerative process and restores stability.

by Dr. Paul Stallone —

Regenerative joint therapy (RJT), also known as prolotherapy, is a treatment for joint injuries and strains. Joint injuries are common and can lead to arthritis or joint diseases. Arthritis is caused by inflammation of the joint and is accompanied by stiffness, aches and pains from injuries, or strain on the joint.

The sites of joint injuries are most commonly the ligaments, tendons and other stabilizing structures of the joint. When these structures are injured or extended, the joint components like cartilage and other surrounding tissue endure added stress and wear; eventually, the over-stressed joint becomes worn and the cartilage begins to break down.

Regenerative joint therapy is an efficient therapy that stops this degenerative process and restores stability. It specifically treats laxity in the ligaments, as well as swelling and pain in the affected joint. It uses the body’s own healing ability to repair itself. RJT is an alternative, efficient solution that gets to the root cause of the pain. RJT has been used with many common joint ailments such as plantar fascitis, osteoarthritis, chondromalacia patellae, ligament sprains, hip pain, degenerative discs, herniated discs, rotator cuff/shoulder injuries, shoulder pain, tendonitis, tennis elbow, golf elbow, wrist and finger pain, and much more.

RJT is even popular with patients who seek pain management for chronic and acute pain associated with injuries. Regenerative joint therapy requires no surgery, so there are no long rehabilitation periods and the patient can resume normal activities after treatment.

The treatment involves injections of a local anesthetic and natural substances which cause an inflammatory reaction, which stimulates the growth of new connective tissue. The injections can be given in the back, extremities and other areas requiring treatment.

Joint injuries are most often treated with medications, cortisone injections or surgery, but these treatments usually mask the pain and weaken the body — increasing the probability of future injuries that can lead to chronic pain.

RJT helps the body repair itself and strengthens the surrounding tissue to regenerate a healthy, stable joint. It has been used for decades with great success. The treatment has worked without scarring the ligaments or surrounding tissue, and is completely safe. Regenerative joint therapy may also be called prolotherapy, or sclerotherapy, all of which refer to the body’s healing process.
