With Earth Day approaching, why not take five minutes to look at and appreciate all the beauty Mother Nature gives to us? Some of that beauty is blooming here in the Valley. The hibiscus is one flower you cannot help but notice, with its big and beautiful blooms that are open for just a short period every day.
Symbolism: The hibiscus is a symbol for delicate beauty and it carries the energy of passion. If there is a red hibiscus behind a girl’s right ear, it means “I have a lover.” If it is behind her left ear, it means “I seek a lover.” Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of Fire, is associated with the hibiscus. She reminds us to greet the flame of passion in our lives and dance with it. Invite the energy of Pele into your garden by planting a hibiscus. The hibiscus is the flower of Hawaii.
Color Therapy: Red is just one of the many colors of the hibiscus. Red symbolizes passion, determination and power, and also stimulates brain wave activity and increases heart rate. Red is the color of the root chakra and is a great color to jump-start your day and give you the vital energy you need to get you going.
Robyn Nola’s passion is photographing the joy, peace and beauty she finds in nature and transforming them into powerful healing agents. She has photographed and created Blooming Affirmations, Blooming Inspirations, a color therapy calendar and the Robyn Nola Healing Art Meditations DVD. www.robynnola.com.
