Neural therapy — an unknown therapy

Neural therapy is used to detect and treat both chronic pain and long-term illness.

by Dr. Fred G. Arnold —

Neural therapy is an injection therapy that is relatively unknown in the United States; however, for years, more than 50 percent of all established practitioners in Europe, particularly Germany, have been using neural therapy successfully in their day-to-day practice.

Neural therapy is used to detect and treat both chronic pain and long-term illness. It is an injection therapy in which local anesthetics are injected into scars, acupuncture points and points along nerves. It focuses on the health of the autonomic nervous system, which controls and regulates most metabolic, immunologic, healing, digestive, hormonal and other body functions.

The interference field

Basically, neural therapy treats a localized area of the body that sends out false electric signals via the autonomic nervous system and gives rise to disorder in the body called an interference field.

Probably the most commonly treated interference field is a scar. Other examples are often found in unlikely places, such as devitalized, displaced or abscessed teeth; root canals; chronically inflamed tonsils; and inflammation of some body area (liver, stomach, prostate or paranasal sinuses).

For example, an appendix scar may cause pain on the abdomen or another part of the body like the shoulder, knee or hand. Oddly enough, this scar could affect the autonomic nervous system and even cause long-standing health problems like migraine headaches. The effect of an interference field is always highly individualized to each patient.

Treatment

Neural therapy treatment is relatively easy and very safe. The classic method is to inject the interference field using a very small needle, directly beneath the surface of the skin with an anesthetic, such as Procaine or Lidocaine, which is commonly given when you go to the dentist.

Specific injections using a simple anesthetic have been shown to be clinically beneficial for headsuraches, whiplash, and sinus and respiratory conditions, digestive problems, damaged intervertebral discs, chronic painful conditions, painful scars, sciatica and even emotional disturbances.

The benefits of neural therapy are as varied as the different conditions patients present to their doctors. Because the treatment solution improves the functioning of the tissues and cells through the autonomic nervous system, the effects last longer than one would expect, and with repeat treatments, the interference field is often permanently abolished with relief and correction of the original problem.

It is not uncommon for patients to have an emotional release after treatment as part of their healing process, which is why some psychiatrists utilize neural therapy to help patients with emotional problems.

Summary

Neural therapy is a healing technique that will often help when all other methods have failed. In many cases, healing occurs so rapidly and unexpectedly that it is referred to as a lightning reaction.

Neural therapy is a safe, effective technique that can be applied to common problems in all areas of medicine: general practice, ear, nose and throat, ophthalmology, gynecology, internal medicine, pain management, psychiatry, and other specialties and subspecialties. Neural therapy should always be considered in chronic painful conditions and any long-term illnesses, particularly if surgery has been recommended. It may be used as an individual therapy or in conjunction with other therapies.
