Power of gemstones in astrology
by Dr. Shivani Singh —
The ancient science of astrology is based on the idea that there is a correlation between the positions of the planets and the signs of the zodiac on one hand, and present and future events on the other. Furthermore, there is a relationship between each planet and sign with every person and object on Earth — in other words, everything earthly corresponds with something in the heavens.
Modern astrologers are of the opinion that this influence from the heavenly bodies originates from some sort of radiation. Basically, there is a heavens-Earth correspondence, in that what happens to a particular planet or sign corresponds with some event related to persons or things ruled by that planet or sign. The wearing of the appropriate zodiacal gem has always been believed to strengthen the influence of the zodiacal sign.
Though many gemstones are no longer commonly used in medicine in a physical sense the way they were in ancient and medieval times, they have retained their healing power. For example, emeralds were used for protection and healing in India and the Far East. In the presence of an emerald, the wearer would be alerted of danger when the jewel turned pale. Similarly, rubies change their color with any form of ill health. Likewise, topaz changes color when there are signs of toxins in the wearer’s body.
Today, we can use gemstones as a tool to help us reconnect with the mystical ways of ancient healers.
