Biofeedback for elusive health answers

by Dr. Paul Stallone —

Sometimes telling your doctor “what is wrong” is easier said than done. Sometimes you cannot effectively articulate the words to describe what you are going through. Or sometimes, your words lead your doctor to a conclusion you did not mean to convey and, because of that, you may be given a wrong diagnosis. Many people have struggled for years to find the right diagnosis, or the right doctor. Settling, or just playing “trial and error,” is no way to approach one’s health care, and it also wastes time and money.

Electrodermal screening (EDS), also known as biofeedback testing, is becoming a more reliable and acceptable way to analyze the root cause of any symptom or complaint. It does not rely on a conclusion by you or your doctor — it relies on your body’s energy. This noninvasive, painless test takes minutes to complete, and the results are instant.

The biodfeedback test results can inform a trained physician of your body’s needs, such as supplements or homeopathic remedies, but the results can also point out things you should avoid. Biofeedback can help your doctor look for things like viruses, bacteria, fungus, hormonal imbalances, parasites and almost any other health condition or infection.

If you have heard of acupuncture, then you already know this therapy is about correcting and balancing energy pathways within the body. This ancient practice has been documented for thousands of years and in many different cultures. Biofeedback does not balance your body’s energy — it helps to measure it. Testing is conducted using an acupuncture point on a finger, along with a highly sensitive device.

This device and your body create a closed circuit. A variety of specific homeopathic substances are placed, one by one, on the testing component to assess the electric resistance of that matter. Biofeedback has not been used as long as acupuncture, but has continued to gain in popularity since its invention more than 60 years ago. Many countries rely on it throughout various scopes of medicine — from holistic dentists to chiropractors to homeopaths to naturopathic physicians.

I have been using EDS for more than 13 years and revolve many treatment plans around its use. It is an invaluable tool and can be utilized in patients ranging from those with cancer to those who developed a cold over the weekend. Countless patients who have seen many specialists or tried every test come to my office with more questions than answers. In only minutes of testing, I am often able to pinpoint the source of their complaints. These patients who have been suffering for years finally start to respond to treatment within weeks.

While I am humbled each time a patient of mine is grateful for my assistance, I have one man to thank for these accolades in my life — Abram Ber, M.D.(H). I met Dr. Ber 24 years ago and spent a lot of time with him before and during medical school. It was because of him that I decided to become a naturopathic doctor. His love of alternative medicine was infectious, and I could not help but develop that same passion.

Ber invited me to intern at his office after I graduated, and it was there that I continued my education with the greatest teacher I had ever known. It was from him that I learned the importance of using EDS to help and treat patients.

It is with a heavy heart that I, among countless others, had to say goodbye to a teacher, a confidant, a father figure and a dear friend. His passing has left many hearts broken, mine included, but his memory will live on through the lives he touched, mentored and healed. I speak for many when I say that he will be sorely missed.
