Weightless: Ambient Transmissions, Volume 2
by Marconi Union —
The inspiration for this album came after the group was commissioned to collaborate with a sound therapist to write a piece of relaxing music — the first “Weightless” track.
This caused a sensation when it was scientifically tested for its effectiveness, and the research reported that the music slowed the heart rate, reduced blood pressure and decreased levels of cortisol, a hormone that is released as a response to stress.
This album comprises six minimal tracks, combining warm drones and drifting sounds with occasional sparse rhythms.
The tracks encourage a deep sense of relaxation with specific rhythms, deep bass tones, frequencies and intervals inducing an almost trance-like state.
