by Rita Goldner —

This vibrantly colored book with its appealing animals presents a scientifically accurate story of a young orangutan learning about his wild habitat.

You will join his romp through the rainforest as he searches for food, runs from predators and exercises his natural curosity.

Along with the fun narrative, Goldner offers young readers whimsical illustrations and fun facts about orangutans. In the book, when a young orangutan wakes in his nest of leaves, his day in the rainforest begins.

He swings through the canopy searching for food, visits the river below and encounters other Borneo wildlife — some of which create great danger.

At day’s end, he and his mother settle into a new nest of leaves high up in the trees, ready for another adventure tomorrow.

The book also includes a glossary.

More fun facts and related activities are available on Goldner’s blogsite: orangutanday.com.

A wildlife artist for years, Goldner has been inspired to write and illustrate this book with colorful and playful illustrations to encourage the protection of a wild habitat for orangutans.

The book will engage children in learning about the natural world and its endangered species.

A percentage of proceeds from the book will be directly donated to organizations that work to preserve orangutans and their wild habitats.
