This musical landscape is a compelling retelling of the 1,001 nights through the eyes of Scheherazade, the teller of the tales.
by Al Conti —
With an appropriate Mideastern world-fusion sound, the music tells the story of the storyteller known as Scheherazade, the woman who, in order to save her life and the lives of others, spun a new tale for the king each night for 1,001 nights, keeping him entranced and wanting more.
Conti writes entrancing melodies and fills them out with arrangements like a richly embroidered tapestry, using the alluring sounds of acoustic guitar, piano, dulcimer, exotic hurdy gurdy, sitar, tribal drums and other percussion.
This musical landscape, which bridges new age and world music, is a compelling retelling of the 1,001 nights through the eyes of Scheherazade, the teller of these tales.
