Once considered primarily a moisturizing humectant whose molecule was too large to penetrate dermal tissue, collagen can now be transdermally absorbed via a bio-active, micronized collagen complex to deeply strengthen the skin’s connective tissue. The new complex supports cellular regeneration, oxygenation and hydration to ease wrinkles, bags, and lip, frown and other expression lines. Face lifting effects — smoother, tighter, more toned (and dare I use the phrase “more youthful looking”) skin — are obvious from your first do-it-yourself facial.
Making your mask is easy, especially if you are already taking micronized collagen matrix capsules to rebuild joints, tendons and/or muscles. Here’s how:
Cleanse your face well with a good non-soap skin cleanser. In a clean mixing jar, thoroughly blend two collagen capsules with a half-teaspoon of your favorite base cream. Apply to your face and neck area using upward strokes. Leave on for 15 minutes or until dry. Gently rinse with warm water. An ultra-thin layer of collagen will remain to be absorbed into your skin over the next few hours. For optimal results, use two to three times weekly.
This same mix can be applied in a very thin layer as your foundation cream. For best results, apply daily without rinsing. Each batch of the collagen foundation cream should last for three or four applications. Be sure to store the unused portion in your refrigerator and wash the mixing jar thoroughly before refilling.
Snap a few close-up photos sans make-up before starting your collagen protocol and again after several weeks — you will be pleasantly surprised.
Collagen is literally the tough fibrous protein that holds our bodies together. It is the main component of fascia, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, skin, hair, bone and teeth. If you also take three capsules nightly on an empty stomach, you will be even more pleasantly surprised. It may take up to three months to notice a significant difference in arthritic joints, but skin and hair improvement might be noted much sooner. Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water (two liters daily), when taking collagen matrix capsules internally.
A bottle of 90 collagen matrix caps costs about $32 at your health food store. Always consult with your physician before beginning a new supplement protocol.
