Bardo
by Christopher Bont —
This 60-minute work is a surreal musical drama inspired by four fields of reference: the Tarot system, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, sound healing/esoteric sound theories and sacred geometry.
The music narrates the journey of “the Fool,” a character from the ancient Tarot system, who illustrates the cycle from despair and darkness through the afterlife, transcendence and finally rebirth.
The orchestra comprises members of the Czech Philharmonic and the Prague Philharmonic orchestras’ ambient instruments and guitars with percussion and vocals.
Complementing the album are a 20-minute documentary and a series of six vibrant and detailed images narrating the core story of Bardo.
