Matter, energy, space, time and you

Toltecs and medicine people refer to matter, energy, space and time as the four-fold purpose of the “unspeakable” — a term that many of us refer to as God.

Toltecs and medicine people refer to matter, energy, space and time (MEST) as the four-fold purpose of the “unspeakable.” The unspeakable is a term for the One Spirit that many of us refer to as God. They use this term because there is really nothing that can be said about it.

If we are honest with ourselves, we must admit there is very little we do know about this presence. All we really have is our experience of this ineffable force that animates all life, including us. One of the great joys in life is exploring the manifestations of this creator of all things.

One way we can work with the unspeakable force is to explore the process of how creation unfolds through MEST. We know through experience that there is matter. There are our physical bodies, the earth, the animal kingdom, plants and minerals, and all that we have created with matter.

Science has taught us that energy organizes matter. In fact, matter is energy at a different vibration. We also know that this matter occupies space. We are observing this process, and all of it takes place within time.

When it comes to exploring cosmology, you might find that it is easiest to keep things simple and that your experiences in life indeed mirror the four-fold purpose. In other words, to understand the most profound esoteric truth, you have to look no further than your own life. Man is a microcosm of the macrocosm that is the universe.

So how do we use our basic knowledge of MEST to create and improve our own lives? We must first realize that our physical reality is at the end of this creation process. The process of creation starts with time, then space, and is followed by energy that becomes matter. All of this can appear to take place simultaneously, but nevertheless there is an order to the process.

Let’s get started by looking at time. A lot of people like to say that time is an illusion. It is often the case that people repeat something they have heard but don’t really understand. We all experience time — so there must be something to it. Perhaps the easiest way to expand our understanding of time is to realize that it is the experience of our consciousness observing. For creation to move to the level of matter, there must be time.

Let us say that you have formed an intention to create something in your life. This is going to take time, and it will also occupy time. Where we sometimes get into trouble is we forget this and become impatient. We must make time in our lives for that which we want to create. Remembering this and applying it will give us an understanding of how this part of MEST works metaphysically.

One final note about time, which corresponds with impatience, is about dealing with the ego. It must be the right time. We can eliminate a lot of suffering if we consistently keep in mind that our higher self has manifested our physical life and is steering the ship. In other words, we are on its time frame.

Once the time has been established, there must be space for something to come into matter. Matter occupies a space. How often have we set out to create, and yet nothing comes to fruition? We then get honest with ourselves and realize that we don’t have the space in our lives for what we want to create in matter. The obvious implication here is that once we are inspired into our potential as creators, we must make the time and create the space to bring whatever it is into our lives.

Once we have created a space, we must learn to hold that space. The first thing we need to do in holding the space is not to give it away to anything else. Then we move onto holding this space with feeling. We use gratitude, thankfulness and love for what we have created, before it comes into manifestation. We fill this space with feeling to attract the energy necessary to manifest the matter.

Once we have the time and the space created, or set aside for what we want to create, we move into energy. This is the aspect of the MEST equation that is synonymous with power. We must allow ourselves to be the vehicle that power flows through into matter. In other words, we must be willing to move into action.

This is the point that takes the most courage and often brings up limitation and programming. If we hold the space for ourselves by staying in the good feelings, we will have all the courage we need to anchor our dreams in matter. We will have the energy and power to make changes and create anything in our world of matter.

We are all truly amazing beings with incredible potential. Examine your life in relation to MEST, and you will quickly see where you need to make adjustments to fulfill your potential. One thing we all have in common is the realization of potential. It is our higher self’s life plan.

Work with MEST and you will open a new window of understanding into the four-fold purpose in your life.
