Nirvana quartz is the name specific to a group of growth-interference quartz crystals that are sometimes called ice quartz. They were first discovered in 2006, at an altitude of 18,000 feet in the Himalayan Mountains of India. They appeared to be in silent isolation for thousand of years, just below the glacial ice.
Due to the effects of global warming, the melting and receding glaciers gave way to expose the strangely formed crystals, revealing the rugged and jagged shapes of the Nirvana quartz. Their irregular shapes and forms are directly influenced by the growth of calcite and other minerals that grow within and during the forming of the quartz crystal.
The configuration of most Nirvana quartz are roughly wand-shaped and trigonic in nature — if one or more of the termination faces of the crystal is inscribed with a triangle. The point of the triangle points downward away from the termination. The calcites and other minerals dissolved and disappeared just prior to completion of crystallization, leaving the crystals irregularly formed and convoluted, with deep recesses and strange contours. These crystals come in only two colors: clear white or pink.
Nirvana quartz is a stone of spiritual enlightenment. It resonates at the crossroads of past and future time. It has appeared on the scene to assist in our evolutionary transformation. Its energy awakens and attunes one to the not-yet-formed potential of what can be in the here and now.
This energy facilitates our connection with the awareness and understanding that we are beings of light with access to a continuous source of energy. As we overcome patterns of judgment of outward appearance and recognize the true beauty of spirit in all of God’s creations, we step into our true destiny.
Mother Nature grants us many wonderful insights into our own spiritual evolution. Mankind, being a part of the whole, can benefit greatly by observing and noting similarities and connections. In viewing ourselves, individually or as the whole of humanity, we outwardly appear to be incomplete, similar to the Nirvana quartz. And like the quartz, we evolve as growth-interference beings — many times scarred and even twisted.
The importance of inner radiance into each of our souls and the necessity of overcoming difficulty and hardship as a part of spiritual ascension will be inwardly revealed. Over the years, the experiences we perceive as having stopped our growth may actually be key in the tempering of our spirit. These experiences often leave scars or footprints which, in themselves, evoke our true beauty by revealing the strength and wisdom gained through life’s journey.
