Imagine being the master of your own life. Imagine working at something that brings true joy and light into your heart, and your life. Can you?
What kind of feelings do those images bring up for you? Can you see yourself doing what you love and actually earning money at it? Or are you like so many Americans who toil at jobs they do not like and are condemned to work with people who seem to bring out the worst in them?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you could be on the road to self-mastery.
What exactly is self-mastery? It is most likely something different for each person, but a broad definition would be the concept and the journey that allow you to be the master of your destiny. And, it’s not as hard as you think. The following four lessons will get you headed in the right direction.
Lesson One — You are never too young or too old to change your life.
Fear of change is the most common reason people are willing to continue working at jobs they do not like. With change comes true empowerment, true motivation and true light. Try asking, “So what if I do not know what I really want to do with my life?” Look inside yourself; that is where all the answers are.
Lesson Two — Looking deep within can be a dark and scary place, but you do not ever have to go there alone.
Remember, each of us is surrounded by angels and spirit guides that are just waiting to be acknowledged and asked to help. They will light the way within and surround you with the protection and love you need.
Lesson Three — Love, forgiveness, compassion and truth cannot honestly be shared with others until you first experience them within and for yourself.
Explore the visionary, the pioneer and the seeker of your truth that lies within. Remember the beautiful thing about this journey is that it belongs to you and to you alone. It does not have to belong to anyone else — no one else has to know about it, no one else has to agree with it and you do not need anyone else’s permission to claim it.
Lesson Four — The power to create change in your life exists solely inside you.
So who will you be? That will be your road to follow. Just for today, promise yourself that you will do your best to honor and bless yourself, those you love and each person you encounter along your path. Seek your truth and hopefully, by example, you will inspire others to seek theirs. Do not judge others by their comments or actions — acknowledge and bless their progress or the place they choose to be.
Self-mastery — what a concept! May you encounter joy, fulfillment, love and light along the way.
