Personal empowerment is one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself. The process starts with the recognition that you are a unique individual with gifts and talents. You are already using many of these abilities to create the reality you experience from day to day, often on a subconscious level.

Do you like the reality you have created for yourself? If not, you can change it. Here are seven steps to help harness your innate gifts and talents to create an empowering, supportive world around you:

Step off the treadmill — Dare to slow down. Even at a million miles an hour, anxious thoughts and feelings still take you nowhere. Instead, take time to be still and to reflect. Step out of the rush and into the Eternal Now.

Take responsibility for your experience — The way you feel toward the experiences you encounter is a direct expression of who you are and what you value. If you do not like what you are encountering, choose again from your core values and the true awareness of your being, and you will find yourself attracting different outcomes.

Refuse to compromise — Let go of any thought or action that creates conflict in the present moment for the promise of a better feeling to come. Reality is now. There is no later. You can not find contentment by compromising your values. Instead of compromising yourself, choose to be whole in the Now.

Remember your connection to others — Even when it feels like you are the only one in the world who struggles with being human, know that you are not. Reach out to others and learn from their experiences, draw on their support and offer them encouragement. We are all in this together.

Become your best — Anybody can follow the crowd, which usually operates at the lowest common denominator. Make the commitment to yourself to live a life worthy of all the potential you possess. Dig deep to discover your greatness. Give yourself permission to shine.

Let go of blame — When your feet hurt because your shoes are too tight, you don’t complain that someone else made you wear those shoes. So why blame another when your feelings are hurting? If painful emotions hurt you, let them go — you will feel much better.

Keep it light — When our hearts and minds are not in agreement, we can get pulled down into the emotions of fear, anxiety or regret. These emotions pull our focus to the past or the future instead of the present. Let them go so that you can embrace the opportunities waiting in this moment!
