There are more than 1 million people in India with cleft lips. This is the story of Pinki, a 5-year-old girl from a village in the Mirzapur District in India.
She was born with a cleft lip into a desperately poor family. Her parents never realized that this condition required just one simple operation until they met Pankaj, a social worker who traveled from village to village, gathering patients to go to a hospital in Varanasi that provides free surgery to thousands each year.
