Stop missing life’s opportunities
by Sherry Anshara —
All of us have experienced missed opportunities in life. In fact, some weeks, months or even years later, we might reflect on those missed opportunities with regret, recrimination and even anger at our lost chances. We ask ourselves: Why did we do it? Why did we miss those chances?
We are all products of preordained belief systems and programming from the moment the sperm hits the egg. We are made up of our parents’, grandparents’ and ancestors’ belief systems from both maternal and paternal sides. Whatever programs they were running, we end up running the same ones. Some of those belief systems affect us in positive ways, and some in adverse ways.
How are we to know the difference? The number-one answer is to get conscious. Consciousness is described as being aware; but, we can be aware of something or a situation and still not be fully conscious.
Through our programming and belief systems, a curious thing happens — we become unconscious. We act out from unconscious consciousness and do certain things in our lives and wonder why. We wonder: Why did this happen this way? Why did I do that that way? Why do I repeat the same actions over and over again?
The “whys” are created and manifested because of our unconscious consciousness. The belief systems and programming take over as silent voices within us, creating and recreating our lives, as if without any of our input or direction.
It is not that inherited programming and belief systems are inherently wrong. But what if they do not have a positive impact on our lives? Hatred, whether self-inflicted or born of prejudice, is the kind of programming that can affect our behavior. When we follow programs and belief systems in which we believe we are not good enough or do not deserve the best in our lives, we manifest this lesser self. As we hold this belief of unworthiness, we manifest the worst, thus creating an abundance of the worst in our lives. Our silent voices speak loudly to the whys we create in our lives, either negatively or positively.
To change your consciousness, listen carefully for your inner self. Find out where the silent voice is hiding in your body of consciousness. Do not be afraid to be fully conscious of all that you are and all that you can be as you actively participate in your life.
Silence your overbearing inner critical voice, hear your positive and proactive inner self, and then let it be heard by others. By becoming fully conscious of all aspects of yourself and your past programming, you will become fully present and in charge of your life. And best of all, you will begin to see the opportunities that unfold around you to live a life of no regrets.
