The Mayans had two calendars: the Tun calendar, or short count, and the Tzolkin calendar, or long count. The Tun calendar was a personal calendar. It revealed one’s personal destiny. The Tzolkin calendar was the sacred calendar.
A calendar is central to any society because it defines the way we view the world. The uniqueness of the Mayans’ sacred calendar is that it is not based on any actual cosmic movement. It doesn’t so much measure time, as it maps the evolution of consciousness.
Starting with our Gregorian calendar on August 11, 3114 B.C., the Tzolkin calendar perfectly retraces the shifts that have occurred in human existence over the past few million years. What makes it even more intriguing is that it ends on a very specific date: the winter solstice of 2012.
With 12.21.2012 right around the corner, many questions arise, but primarily, what is going to happen on that date?
Astronomically, Earth will be aligned to the galactic center of the universe and the Milky Way will surround Earth, touching it on all points. A portal, so to speak, will be opened, shifting our planet into a whole new dimension.
External changes mirror internal transformations. We are already experiencing this. A few examples are the acceleration of time, the collapse of the economic system and the increasing awareness of the impact of our thoughts on our reality.
It isn’t so much that there is more darkness in the world — it’s just becoming more visible. Lies are being exposed. Even if we are not particularly psychic, we can feel the truth of the people we meet. Separations occur and new people enter the stream of our lives who are more deeply in alignment with our higher purpose.
So, is 12.21.2012 the end of the world?
If it were, would all the magical children being born now be allowed to come into this condemned world?
It certainly is the end of one world: a world of fear, negativity, aging, disease, war, lies and belief in scarcity.
Beyond 12.21.2012 is the unknown — an unknown that we are all individually and collectively creating right now, one awareness at a time. The more conscious we become of our thoughts, feelings and life circumstances, the closer we become to manifesting the highest reality that is possible at this extraordinary juncture.
As we become honest with ourselves and live with full integrity, we may have to cut some ties (or be abandoned by someone we cherished). We may have to change locations, quit our jobs (or be fired if we haven’t had the courage to leave) and generally move away (or be removed) from situations that no longer serve our highest good.
Out of the void, magic is weaving itself into the fabric of our lives, making miracles a part of our ordinary reality.
