The three worlds

The key to aligning the three worlds within us and experiencing the illumination resulting from this is unconditional love — meaning to love without condition.

by John English —

Medicine people use some very simple formulas for making sense of creation and applying it to the human experience. Nowhere is this more evident than the way they organize the upper, middle and lower worlds. These worlds correspond with right thinking, unconditional love and right action, respectively. When we balance the three worlds within ourselves, life becomes the act of power and beauty it was intended to be and moves back to its natural rhythm and flow.

The upper world is the energetic or essential level of reality. It is the world that informs this middle world we live in. One way this is commonly stated is “as above, so below.” Even though the upper world is most often unseen, it is very real. In the medicine traditions, it is referred to as the world of spirit. The middle world is our physical world and is often described as everything the sun shines on. The lower world is the domain of the unconscious. It is the level of reality that is the keeper of all potentiality.

Let’s consider how these three worlds reside within our bodies, and apply them to right thinking, unconditional love and right action. Right thinking and the upper world is about using the power of vision and is applied from the third-eye chakra in the middle of the forehead. Unconditional love and the middle world reside at the heart center, located at the sternum. The lower world and right action are at the lower belly, which is where chi or life force energy is stored in your physical body.

The key to aligning the three worlds within us and experiencing the illumination resulting from this is unconditional love — meaning to love without condition. If we make a commitment to transform ourselves so that we can be in and apply unconditional love at all levels of engagement, then the three worlds will balance within us. Unconditional love is the pivot point between the upper and lower worlds. It is the easiest way to master right action and move into right thinking.

Once we make a commitment to walk in beauty in this middle world and be love in action, we need to use the power of vision to see where we have work to do regarding our actions.

Pay attention to the words you use. People tend to underestimate the power of their words and their impact on others, as well as what they create in this world. Look at how the unconscious use of your voice is connected to your actions, and work with spirit to make your actions beautiful. Ask for help and ruthlessly comb through your life to find all of your actions that are not life affirming. Do this as an act of unconditional love, and you will receive the power and courage necessary to fulfill the task.

As you begin to walk in beauty, it is time to turn your focus toward right thinking. You will find that this is much easier to accomplish because you have first used your heart center to align the lower world of action. Because of your heart-centered intention to be love in action, you will have the help you seek from the upper world of spirit to shut off the internal dialog and come into the amazing power of right thinking.

Once this takes place, you will be in your right mind. The three worlds will balance within you, and the world will be blessed by your actions.

In this new year, use the power of your heart to unleash your potential with this new beginning for yourself and others.
