Qigong is an ancient and powerful Chinese system of energy medicine promoting health and well-being by using the breath, gentle movements and meditation.

We are bombarded on a daily basis by negative electrical energy signals from sources such as our thoughts, others’ thoughts, microwaves, cell phones, computers and high-tension wires. Some people believe that disease occurs from too much exposure to one or more of these electrical signals. Others believe that if it is possible to create negative energy that leads to disease, it is also possible to create positive energy which can lead to better health and a more tranquil state of mind.

Qigong is an ancient and powerful Chinese system of energy medicine promoting health and well-being by using the breath, gentle movements and meditation. Energy (qi) flows through the body along energy pathways called meridians. The potential for disease or imbalance in the body may occur if the flow of the qi is blocked at any point on those pathways.

A qigong workout consists of performing specific postures and stances that stimulate a clear, strong and balanced flow of qi throughout the meridians and organs of the body. Anyone, regardless of age and/or physical limitations, can practice qigong to proactively take charge of their health and well-being.

The benefits of qigong can extend to all the physical systems in the body, as well as to the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our beings. Possible benefits include:

  • Decreased stress and anxiety
  • Improved posture, balance, strength, stamina and flexibility
  • Increased energy
  • Greater sense of well-being
  • Ability to think more clearly
  • Feeling more centered and calm

Much of what is going on in the world is out of our control. Knowing this may sometimes cause us to feel powerless. We can, however, regulate our bodies — what we do to them and what we put into them. The practice of qigong is one of the many healthy ways we can take care of ourselves and reclaim our self-power.
