New classes for homeopathic physicians

Completion of that program leads to licensure to practice as a Doctor of Homeopathy and eligibility for national board certification.

The American Medical College of Homeopathy in Phoenix is now offering a new course to enable physicians to achieve a secondary license — the Arizona homeopathic physician’s license, which is expressed as M.D.(H). This license is available only to M.D.s and D.O.s in good standing.

The class runs one Saturday a month for six months, or candidates may make use of a self-study DVD program. A mentorship program is also offered. The program involves 35 hours of study, after which successful candidates go before the State Board of Homeopathic and Integrated Medical Examiners.

Arizona statute provides that physicians with the M.D.(H) license may utilize acupuncture, chelation therapy, homeopathy, orthomolecular medicine, neuromuscular integration (including neural therapy and biofeedback), nutritional therapy and pharmaceutical therapy. Minor surgery is included (lacerations, lancing boils, etc., but not liposuction or cosmetic surgery). In 1981, the Arizona State Legislature created the license. The state of Nevada has a similar one.

The American Medical College of Homeopathy also offers a full-time, four-year program. Completion of that program leads to licensure to practice as a Doctor of Homeopathy and eligibility for national board certification.
