The film Awake: The Life of Yogananda is the unconventional biography about Paramahansa Yogananda who brought yoga and meditation to the West in the 1920s.

Filmed over three years with the participation of 30 countries around the world, the documentary explores why millions today have turned their attention inward in pursuit of self-realization.

This soundtrack CD includes a booklet with background on Yogananda, an accomplished musician himself, who saw music as a link to Spirit and devotional chanting as an expression of the soul’s longing for God.

The CD includes notes from the composers, along with commentary from the filmmakers about the soundtrack’s importance and influence on the viewing experience.

It also features Alanis Morissette, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Anoushka Shankar and the voice of Paramahansa Yogananda himself.
