Reiki is one of the most ancient healing arts known to humans. Administered by “laying on hands,” it is based on the idea that the unseen life force energy that flows through our bodies causes us to be alive. It is a healing system that works with the energy and chakra systems in the body, as well as the energetic outer bodies, also known as auras. Reiki originated in Tibet and was rediscovered by Dr. Mikado Usui in 1922. The secret keys or symbols to this universal energy have been passed on ever since.
The meaning of the word Reiki comes from rei — universal cosmic force, God’s energy, higher power; and ki — life force energy, the flowing life force that binds everything, which also is known as chi or prana.
Reiki treats the whole person, including the body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.
Some of Reiki’s benefits include: opening the chakras, balancing the organs and glands, strengthening the immune system, treating symptoms and causes of illness, relieving pain, clearing toxins (body, mind and spirit detox), adapting to the needs of the receiver, enhancing personal awareness, relaxing and reducing stress, releasing blocked and suppressed feelings, aiding meditation and positive thinking, healing holistically and promoting natural self-healing.
Reiki is passed from generation to generation through energetic attunements that are received from a Reiki master/teacher who channels or passes Reiki frequencies and energy to the initiates or students. The symbols/secret keys are tools that help direct the energy. The symbols are used in the sessions and attunements to boost the Reiki energy.
Reiki is a simple, natural, safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in treating virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side-effects and promote recovery.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use the process. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief; its focus is on working with the powerful energies that have always been available. It is as old as the universe itself and is a technique for total healing, stress reduction and relaxation.
