Reflexology is the science of dealing with reflex points on the feet, hands, ears and body that mirror all the organs and glands of the body. By stimulating these points, reflexology opens blocked energetic pathways, enabling the body to begin healing itself.
As a student of reflexology, I am thrilled to share a success story with you. It was late October the first time Lani came into the student clinic. She is a young, single mother with a stressful job in a law office. Her primary complaints were PMS, tension and migraines.
Her session began with basic foot reflexology, concentrating on the endocrine system, especially the thyroid and adrenal reflexes, and the uterus and ovary reflexes. Since we had just learned a protocol for stress reduction involving reflexes on the neck, shoulders and upper back, I worked these points on Lani. She felt very relaxed after this first session and scheduled another in three weeks time.
Mid-November rolled around and Lani arrived for her second appointment. She mentioned having found some relief from the PMS symptoms. Once again, I worked her feet and upper body points. Working the upper back points involves a few stretches that really open the thoracic cavity. It’s just one of those “feel good” moves. Lani scheduled her third appointment for early December.
When Lani arrived for her third appointment, she had some surprising news. She realized she had not had a single migraine since she began the reflexology sessions. Previously, she had been averaging two per week. She said she knew she owed it to reflexology because she had not been doing anything else differently. I was thrilled to hear about these great results.
Reflexology is undoubtedly a very powerful tool. What a blessing to be an instrumental part of someone’s healing, and to be able to do this without the use of medications!
