“Love one another and help others to rise to the higher levels, simply by pouring out love. Love is infectious and the greatest healing energy.” — Sai Baba
I love the above quote because I believe love can heal all. I have a very moving experience to share. I knew a man and we both disliked each other — so much so that we did not even speak. He lived his life and I lived mine, neither of us caring what could or would happen to the other.
One day I learned that he had a serious problem with depression. I went to his parents’ house and met with him. We started talking, and somehow I felt that I wanted to help him with his problem. Ultimately, I did take on this task.
When people are depressed, they can only be helped if they want it. I tried very hard to help him, but at times, it became so difficult that I would pray to God to show me the answer. Usually, each morning I would get some sort of an answer, which I would try to put into play.
Finally, when things were not going too well with my friend, I decided to simply show him love. This scenario went on for years. One thing led to the other, and with the guidance of God, I helped my friend out of his depression. At first, I did not tell him I loved him, but he told me that he loved me and called me his angel.
The happy ending to the story is that it has been six years and my friend has never left my side. He tells me he loves me every day, and no matter what, he is here to stay.
