What does it mean to put your best face forward? It means to begin truly seeing the greatness of yourself and the great face you have. The fact is, this is your only face, so you are always putting your best face forward. Yours is the face you chose for this lifetime, just as your body is the body you chose for this lifetime, too. D no’t forget that. You selected this face, this body and this lifetime.
You have the perfect face. Maybe not by the standards of Hollywood or the New York fashion models, but so what? Who determines what is perfect, anyway? The marketing departments of giant cosmetics companies? They simply want to entice you to buy by assuring you that using one of their products will give you the best face possible.
There is nothing wrong with makeup, face creams, potions or lotions. In fact, they are fun and make you feel good temporarily. But that’s the key — this feeling is temporary. Your face is the perfect permanent presentation.
Look in the mirror without judgment at this wonderful face that has faced the world, has faced up to problems, has smiled under the burden of complex emotions, has taken it on the chin when life got tough, and has faced every challenge that life has handed you.
Your beautiful face has endured and expressed all the emotions and feelings that have arisen along your journey. Your face has weathered emotional storms, and endured the tests of time. If you have a few wrinkles, bless them; for in those wrinkles are the memories of the “wrinkles” you faced in your life. Give yourself credit for making it though those difficult times. Your face has even glowed with the victories and successes you have accomplished.
Your face has changed in the time since your birth and this moment, right now. Yet that wonderful face of yours contains all the times of your life. Your face automatically smiles as it remembers all those good times. Likewise, memories of those challenging times might cause your face to grimace, as you recall some of life’s tests. Either way, your face is your best expression of your whole life.
Your face is the face of the past, the present and the future — right here, right now. Look in the mirror and love your face. Consider having a brighter perspective and expressing gratitude for all you have faced. Remember, it takes fewer face muscles to smile than it does to frown. So, smile! You are you on your own “Candid Camera” show. In fact, you are the face in the mirror and in the camera. You are always putting your best face forward.
